    I am really psyched to see Komarov in Rochester this year at some point, and Helenius who looks like much more than a kid. Going to be an interesting camp to see what shakes out with the final roster going to Europe.

    @Sabresprospects I would expect for Kulich to be a dominant player on the ice in this tournament if he's ready to make the jump to the Sabres. Stronger, smarter in tight, improved skating, etc. Thinking back at Benson during this tournament, I saw a nifty little player with great hands and good in closed spaces who could be really good on the PP. I didn't think he was ready for the Sabres. I"m guessing "ya never know" until training camp?

    I want to see if Johnson, Ostlund, and Kulich can take a step and kind of dominate the games. If Rosen doesn’t do something he might be a bust and never get the chance to make NHL. Johnson might be in the same boat as Rosen.

    I think Östlund will get some centre time and that Kulich & Helenius will get some wing reps to allow this to happen. There may be a wing roster spot available on the Sabres for one of them, but unless Krebs holds out, no spot at centre. On D I am looking to see how Komorov has progressed. He has been a pleasent surprise over the last 12 months.

      also a thought that Kulich and Rosen could sit a game out as they shift the focus to main camp which would also create opportunity for Ostlund at C

      I'd be shocked if Ostlund didn't need a full year in Roch. He concerns me as not being rugged enough, but he's a center so he can be more slippery? I really wonder if next year Helenius is more ready than Ostlund for the Sabres. We need more legit right handed shot RWs!

    • @neilflood6508
      @neilflood6508 8 годин тому

      @@frankfarklesberry I agree that Östlund needs time in Rochester. Helenius also needs time on the farm but is more likely to get called up during the season unless Östlund out performs him. I still think Kulich is currently No.1 on the call up list and may even make the Sabres out of camp. I think Rosén is being overlooked and I cannot see where he fits into the Sabres unless Zucher is placed on the 3rd line and the 2nd line LW is opened up for Rosen or Kulich.

The Sabres certainly have the cap room to do it . I don't have faith in Lukkonnen being the starter for very long. He is never going to be the goalie that can win a Stanley Cup. When the play gets chaotic UPL does not handle it very well. Recall even last year when UPL was playing well and the team was leading late in games UPL would still allow "questionable" goals. In contrast Levi "shuts the door" when called on and he is more dependable goalie that can win in big games. Big mistake in caving into a UPL contract for 5 years because he will be traded before that deal is finished. We have Ratzlaff coming up and I believe he will be the back up to Levi in a couple of years.

    Laine is Skinner Mk2, but without Jeff's engaging personality. Glad we did not get Laine. I think holding circa 7.5M - 7.7M (after Krebs signing or the cost another 14th forward) is wise as we need some of this spare cap for RFA players next summer. We will need more cap for these players than the amount the cap will go up. If there is an expiring UFA at the trade deadline that makes sense then I am in.

    Thanks guys - do you think Adams is done? I never bought the Necas/Ehlers nonsense, but Farabee seems like a realistic target. Appert named him captain of USNTDP, thinks highly of him, Sabres fan from Syracuse (hello Alex Tuch 2.0) and a left wing with big upside IMO: He’s never played with players like Tage/Tuch and has still produced. With Byram’s contract coming up and Krebs losing his spot, could see us shipping out Samuelsson+Krebs for Farabee, lot of money for 4 Dmen and Sammy can’t stay healthy. Philly has reportedly looked closely at Krebs, and Sammuelson would be a great fit for them as a player+his Flyers connection. Seems too obvious to miss… Farabee makes this a serious playoff contending team. Sammy will be missed, but Ryan Johnson is ready to play and we signed an abundance of NHL depth d-men. Savoie likely goes on to have a productive career, especially in EDM. But there are many factors that made him the ideal prospect to trade & it’s understandable the return is what it was. 1. no one is waiving their NTC to come here. Expect Moneyball moves 2. Guys like Benson, Kulich, & now Helenius kinda passed him on the prospect rankings, making him expendable 3. Injuries derailed him making an early NHL impression, allowing these prospects to pass him while worrying mgmt about his lack of size & toughness. These smaller guys have been falling the draft, & Sabres were happy to take them. But it is trending away from smaller players again. He may not have been worth to NHL GM’s what he’s worth to Twitter GM’s. 4. Some say they would have taken a 2nd Rd pick/prospect for McLeod. Some of our 2nd Rd prospects are probably more important to the Sabres right now with what they are building. I’ll bet Wahlberg & Poltapov are more important to them 5. There wasn’t room for him. You don’t want Savoie on the bottom 6 like Krebs. Hard to say if that hurt Krebs’ development or if Krebs just couldn’t do enough to work his way up 6. They needed a 3C - their bottom 6 was embarrassing. Adams probably loses his job with another abysmal performance from his bottom 6. He probably doesn’t care if he loses the trade as long as it partially works out & he makes playoffs. I have been saying with how they’ve been building the roster mainly through the draft - what happens if we finally get there & you have waited years to find out it has not been the right recipe? Great show boys!!! Well worth the listen. I'd like to see them offer sheet NJ Center Dawson Mercer. He is 22 years old, plays a fast and physical game and could slot in nicely at 3C. He would be a nice piece to add to our young core that could easily move up the roster in the event of an injury. He tallied 20G 13A last season down from a 27G 29A campaign in 2022. Those numbers compare to Jeff Skinner's production, without the defensive lapses and he's a player that is familiar with Lindy Ruff. NJGM Tom Fitzgerald is rumored to be working on a two-year bridge deal for Mercer that is currently projected to cost the Devils $3.794 million against the cap. If GMKA utilizes his cap space and overpays with an offer sheet that NJ can't afford to match, he could land and sign a pivotal piece in Buffalo's push for the playoffs while costing an Atlantic playoff hopeful. To echo Fairburn's sentiment, Peyton Krebs needs to see management bring someone in to play the role that he failed to fill last season. Lindy Ruff will not tolerate players not producing and fulfilling their roles. If the past is any indicator; Peyton Krebs will find himself working on developmental skills and watching games from the Press Box this season.

    I like roslovic as a 3C, anyone else?

      Nope. Since 2020 he averages 2.43 hits per 60 minutes. That would put him between Olofsson & Benson. 42.9% on faceoffs is terrible. -31 5v5. There's much better options.

    Adams should have upgraded 3C. Krebs definitely doesn't cut it.

    Wanted to give you both credit for a really insightful, level headed conversation about the past few days. Lots to get excited about on the prospects front but definitely a ton of concern with teambuilding/main roster makeup. Hoping the offseason is more of a marathon than a sprint. Always good to have more players with a 200-foot game but concerned about secondary scoring. Hoping for more in the upcoming weeks. All the best, Kris and Matthew, looking forward to more of your conversations.

    Money and the owner of the Sabres is not the problem! The doesn’t care about money, he has 7 billion, he cares about the team more than Golisano who let everyone walk out the door when they all could have been signed and traded for return value. The Sabres owner hands out 70-80 million contracts all the time. The problem is getting players to play here on a bad team. They drafted well, now need to relax and let those guys play
